{for photographers} Cheetah Stand, much better than the Denny EZ Stand

A few weeks ago,  I posted a video review of the Denny EZ stand when I received it.  I pointed out how one of the posts came apart on me immediately out of the box, which caused me to have to use caution when lifting it.  Well,  after shooting a wedding with it,  I realized...

Hey Mark –
thanks for taking the time to compare the 2! Makes me happy I made the right choice with the cheetahs.

My 2 cheetah’s arrived last week in time for a wedding and using multiple strobes off-camera at the reception was a breeze to move the lights around. Outdoors on unstable ground is a different matter (centrecolumn is low to the ground), and I found myself having to tighten the knobs quite hard in some instances to stop the columns sliding down with a little weight, but in all I don’t know how I lived without them! Looking fwd to the vid!

Hi, do you find the 8 foot high Cheetah stand to be high enough for most purposes (including off-camera lights at receptions)?
Thanks!

Hi Lisa,

Of course every venue is different, but I don’t see any reason to need to go higher- especially if the light can be bounced. They work just fine for me, as a stationary off camera flash, or as a lightstick held and directed by an assistant.
Hope that helps :)

Thanks so much!
They have a holiday special right now so I might pick up two :)

Well…….they must have not tightened them ALL up because the one that purchased in July 2010 also came apart. They DID replace it for me, but it did not save me from the embarrassment of having the MOTB pick up my stand and have it fall apart in her hand. Wish I would have found your review earlier!

Review of the Denny EZ Stand, compared to Cheetah Stand {photographers}

We recently purchased the Denny EZ Stand to replace our older lightstick. We needed something light and portable to carry with us in our ThinkTank International while on jobs. Since we shoot in locations where we need to carry equipment a good distance away from our vehicle (such as the French Quarter), portability is a...
