The Struggle

shanablog

To all of those who visit our photo journal, thank you for taking time to follow our work. This post will be a little different from what we normally write about, just a head’s up. A few years ago, we created a little website called “Trash the Dress”. It was a fun project that was...

Fantastic post! I hate the shock value that seems to surround TTD, without anyone even knowing what it’s about. They just see paint and scissors and fire. In most cases, the dress comes out as good as new after cleaning. Anyway, why should you feel obliged to donate something you own, if you want to use it for something artistic and fun? It’s yours. Do your thing!

Mark, 1. Great Post. 2. Everyone that has seen or heard about my engagement/wedding pictures has said one or two things either “that looks like it belongs in a magazine” or “when I get married he is definitely going to be my wedding photographer”. 3. I can’t wait to do a TTD session with you!!

Mark – I’ve said before to you and others “thanks for sharing” – when I’ve looked at the results of hard work that is offered for viewing. But this time, I’m saying thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. Well said… best wishes to you, Heather and “M”.

“May my images continue being visual verbs that evoke a response.” -What an intensely profound statement! Love it! You guys are an inspiration to anyone caught up in the daily grind of life that think they can only dream the dream, and never live it. So happy that you and Heather are living yours!

Mark, I personally think that your TTD is some of the most moving artwork I have ever seen! Your images are breath taking and awe inspiring. My mother always taught me that those that are jealous are often the first to criticize. Not many people have the eye or the talent that you are fortunate enough to have. Louisiana is LUCKY to have such talent walking among us! Stand proud! You deserve it!

Wonderful, wonderful post! The world will always be surrounded with debate. Although everyone may not get it, you have left a tremendous mark on the world with your keen eye and ability to capture art through digital photography. Continue being Mark Eric. I remain in awe with your gift and ability to capture your subjects’ inner beauty and personalities through what appears to be a simple point and click. Keep doing you. You’re fabulous at it!! Besides, genuine can never be reproduced. ;)

Mark,
I know we have never met, but I am also from Louisiana (living in Pensacola) and am just getting started shooting weddings in New Orleans, Laf, and Baton Rouge areas alongside my sister. I have admired your work for quite some time now and it was very interesting learning about your story in regard to TTD and also about how Modern Photographers was formed. I had not been clear on that beforehand and appreciate you sharing yourself and your art with the photography community worldwide. Louisiana sure is LUCKY to have you and your wife produce such wonderful work that evokes clear emotion. I love learning from others in the industry, especially life lessons like this. I think TTD is pretty neat, but am just looking forward to the evolution of my own journey into wedding photography and realize that it might involve sessions like this or it might not…….but as long as my clients are happy then that’s what counts. :) Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for posting and hope to meet you and Heather soon.
